Vodafone HG553 Password

Vodafone HG553 Password

I can swear Vodafone hg553 password (default password) is the winner of the dumbest default password ever. It was a challenge for me to find it.
Actually I found this shiny ADSL router in my old things and I was happy at first. I try to guess hg553 password, but after some try I changes my mind and decided to reset the modem.
After the process of resetting, it came up and I thought the default username would be "admin" and password would be something like "admin" or "1234", I was wrong. I googled it and nearly none of the links were helping me. I was going crazy little by little. As a last effort I tried to get get my hands on the CD which was in the package, unfortunately it didn't help and I can't remember how many pages I went down on a froum to find out the golden key.

The Vodafone HG553 Password is: VF-EShg553

(I assume you can guess the username which is admin)
After all difficulties I had finding the hg553 password I put a label behind the router containing the default hg553 password written in red (I always change defaults for sure and I suggest you that you do the same for security reasons).
Vodafone hg553 password

You should know something interesting about this old router. It support a 3G usb dongle which is a great way to make redundancy and have a backup internet in case of any connection problem. Although it doesn't support all kind of dongles, it supports a long list and for home or small office use having this option is of a great importance to have a fault tolerance option. Another thing is the appearance, it's white and have some blue lights which stands it out of an ordinary device.

I hope it would be helpful for you, if you had this device.

Keep your backup safe from ransomware

The most effective way to protect your files from Ransomware is to have a backup and for achieving that, an excellent backup plan is a must.
As we know until now all Ransomwares infect systems by encrypting every important files such as : documents and backups also delete volume shadow copies, so if you have your media in which backup is written attached to your files system either via network or through other ways the chance that the backup files survive is near zero percent. So having only online backups is totally risky.
On the other hand every company needs an online daily backup to ensure, for example, it can recover accidentally deleted files in a daily basis.
The first solution that comes in mind is: “we can have offline backup” so let’s analyze ways to take an offline backup!
For having and offline backup you need to either attach/detach your backup media physically or write backup to a non-writable media. The former solution is not going to work in real life, because you can’t allow random staff to access the backup media and attach or detach it, and even if you can specify that person to do that it will not be sufficient and it will contain human error.
The second solution is not cost effective for mid-range businesses.
Having an in expensive backup system which takes daily backups on two separated medias on a schedule and automatically attach and detach them is a critical need for mid-range companies so they can have online backup for daily needs (recover accidentally deleted files) and also an offline backup to recover from ransom infection. In case of ransom infection the only data which is written between two set of backups are lost because the media in which backup is Witten in the time of infection may be encrypted by ransom.

Firewall and Nat rules are not working on mikrotik router os (ESXI)

recently i installed mikrotik router os 6.10 on Esxi and configure it as a VPN server for internet sharing, but when i test it, computers had internet even with their vpn disconnected.
all configurations was fine, after some troubleshooting i found the network types of mikrotik interfaces in ESXi is the problem. removed them and add new type "E1000" network adapters.
